Is Swish Finance the same as Stock Desktop Widget?
Yes, Swish Finance is the new name for Stock Desktop Widget. It's got all the same features you know and love, but with a new name.
Is Swish free?
Yes. The free version lets you monitor up to 3 stocks plus one crypto or ETF, with real-time quotes and charts, themes, simulated holdings and other core widget features. Swish Pro removes widget limits and adds broader instrument access, extended history, advanced charts, price alerts and more. It is available monthly, annually or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
Does Swish work on Windows 11?
Swish supports Windows 11 and Windows 10 natively, including ARM64 devices like Surface Pro. Fluent UI, acrylic blur and dark mode are built in.
How do I add a stock ticker or instrument to my desktop?
Open the Settings Configurator, then search using the power bar at the top of your screen (CTRL + E to activate). Search for a ticker or company name, then click the instrument you would like to add. This adds a new widget in the top-right of your desktop, behind all your open windows.
What instrument types are supported?
Swish Finance lets you track stocks, crypto, ETFs, mutual funds, forex/currency, futures, commodities, CFDs, indices and benchmarks.
Are the stock quotes real-time?
Yes, real-time chart updates are free for all major US exchanges and many international markets. Swish Pro adds pre-market and post-market data.
How do I change a widget's time range or chart type?
Right-click the widget, then select your desired time range from the menu. Select the Configure option in the context menu to access additional settings, including chart type, simulated holdings, price alerts, and more.
How do I make my widget transparent or more compact?
Customize or turn off the semi-opaque (acrylic) background under Settings -> Color Settings -> Background. You can customize the opacity of individual widgets in the settings pane for each respective widget. For a more compact layout, go to Settings -> Update Layout -> Widget layout, then toggle Mini widget.
How do I arrange stock widgets across multiple monitors?
Open Settings, select Update Layout in the side-nav, then select one of three action buttons: resize, grid, or align. The Resize tool lets you resize all widgets at once. The Grid tool constructs a grid layout. Each widget remains on its current monitor if you have more than 1 display. Tip: drag and drop to reorder the left-hand-side widget list. Then, both Grid and Align tools will respect your preferred order when laying out the grid. You can lock the widgets afterward to prevent accidental movement. Swish restores their positions and sizes after restarting.
How do I create a price alert?
Right click the widget -> Configure to bring up Settings. Select the Price Alert tab, turn on the Price Alert toggle switch, then enter an upper or lower price threshold. You will now get a notification in the system notification center whenever the price goes above or below your defined thresholds.
Can Swish track my portfolio profit and loss?
Right click the widget -> Configure to bring up Settings. Select the Simulated Holdings tab, then click Add holding. You will now see a badge displaying the total P/L in the top right of your widget. P/L values are updated in real time based on the current price and exchange rates.
How does Swish handle currency conversion and exchange time zones?
By default, all price values are displayed unconverted as-is. If you select a custom display currency, Swish converts all price values using today's exchange rate. When you add a simulated holding, Swish picks the current or historical exchange rate based on the configured date. Switch between your local time zone and the instrument's time zone by toggling Use exchange time zone under the Shared Settings tab.
How do I change the language?
Open Settings, select the cog icon in the bottom-left of the sidebar, then expand General Settings and choose Language.
Will Swish drain my battery?
The widgets are rendered using native Direct2D, DirectX 11 and DirectComposition APIs - the same graphics stack Windows uses to draw its own UI. No Electron, no embedded browser. I know many users keep Swish open all day on a laptop (including me), so battery life has been a priority from the start.
How do I use keyboard shortcuts?
Custom keybindings allow you to easily trigger common actions and switch between predefined views. You can stack multiple hotkeys for the same keybindings across selected widgets - toggle visibility, switch time range, change z-order, etc.
What does Swish Pro include?
Swish Pro includes unlimited stocks and widgets, unlimited crypto, ETFs, currencies & more without restriction, candlestick and OHLC charts, volume bars, advanced market data, full historical ranges, extended-hours data and additional customization.
